Heart rate after cardiac transplantation.

چکیده
Two patients who have undergone heart transplantation 7 and 15 months previously were studied to determine basal heart rate, the effects of exercise, and acute changes in venous return and blood pressure as well as of vagal stimulation. In one case the effects of body temperature, isoprenaline (isoproterenol), beta blockade, and atropinization on heart rate were studied. Mean resting heart rates of 110 and 90, respectively, were observed in the two cases without any significant change with time since the surgical implantation. Sinus arrhythmia was not observed and heart rate was found to increase with exer'cise following isoprenaline infusion and following increase inbody temperature. A'decrease was observed after beta blockade, but no significant direct or baroreceptor reflex effects could be produced by changes in venous return, systemic blood pressure,, vagal stimulation, and atropinization. Both patients are thus effectively denervated, and there is no evidence of reinnervation to date.

Regional differences in sympathetic reinnervation after human orthotopic cardiac transplantation.
BACKGROUND In the majority of humans > or = 1 year after cardiac transplantation, cardiac norepinephrine (NE) stores reappear, suggesting late sympathetic reinnervation. METHODS AND RESULTS To determine whether there are regional differences in reinnervation, we measured markers of sympathetic reinnervation of the sinus node (SN) and left ventricle (LV) in five early transplant recipients (< ...

Cardiac transplantation is life saving in patients suffering from end stage cardiac diseases. In recent years , advancement in cardiac surgery has contributed to increasing number of patients who require cardiac transplantation. This report is the first case of heart transplantation in Yazd. Recipient was a 53 years old man with dilated cardiomyopathy and candidate for cardiac transplant. The d...
متن کاملFunctional and neurochemical evidence for partial cardiac sympathetic reinnervation after cardiac transplantation in humans.
BACKGROUND The presence of cardiac reinnervation in humans after cardiac transplantation has been widely debated, based on the application of differing methods for the assessment of neuronal function. Some of these techniques have been rather indirect; consequently, the time course and extent of cardiac reinnervation remains uncertain. METHODS AND RESULTS To test for the presence of cardiac r...
متن کاملEffect of Cardiac Rehabilitation on Heart Rate and Functional Capacity in Patients After Myocardial Infarction
Objectives: The primary purpose of this study was to determine the methods and means of prevention and treatment of coronary artery disease. In this study, we used a new regimen on heart rate and functional capacity of patients after myocardial infarction. This study also determines the effect of a new regimen on these factors. Methods: The cross sectional study was designed to assess the clin...
متن کاملThe heart reinnervates after transplantation.
BACKGROUND Whether cardiac reinnervation occurs after transplantation remains controversial. If reinnervation does occur, how sympathetic and parasympathetic efferent neurons do this remains unknown. METHODS Power spectral analysis of heart rate variability was assessed for 1 year after cardiac autotransplantation in 9 dogs. After induction of anesthesia 13 months after transplantation, cardi...
متن کاملIncreased heart rate prevents the isomyosin shift after cardiac transplantation in the rat.
The heterotopically transplanted rat heart undergoes significant atrophy and a shift from V1 to V3 isomyosin. The purpose of this study was to pace the cardiac isograft and determine whether an increase in heart rate would attenuate the changes in cardiac mass and isoenzyme distribution. Nonpaced transplanted hearts were compared with hearts in which pacing was initiated at 7 Hz, 24 hours after...
